The word karaoke comes from the Japanese words ‘kara’ meaning ’empty’ and ‘oke’ meaning ‘orchestra’. It first became popular in English in 1979
Karaoke is a Japanese word that refers to a performance in which a person sings along with recorded music. It’s a popular form of entertainment at restaurants and clubs: amateur singers choose their favourite well-known song to sing and then perform it for the crowd.
OohOoh
Na na, síNa na, yeah
Te vi bailando en una habitación llena de genteI saw you dancing in a crowded room
Te ves tan feliz cuando no estoy contigoYou look so happy when I’m not with you
Pero luego me viste y te sorprendisteBut then you saw me, caught you by surprise
Una lágrima iba cayendo de tu ojoA single teardrop falling from your eye
No sé por qué huyoI don’t know why I run away
Te haré llorar cuando me vayaI’ll make you cry when I run away
Podrías haberme preguntado por qué rompí tu corazónYou could’ve asked me why I broke your heart
Podrías haberme dicho que te estabas derrumbandoYou could’ve told me that you fell apart
Pero pasaste junto a mí como si yo no estuviera ahíBut you walked past me like I wasn’t there
Y solo fingiste que no te importabaAnd just pretended like you didn’t care
No sé por qué huyoI don’t know why I run away
Te haré llorar cuando me vayaI’ll make you cry when I run away
Acéptame de nuevo porque quiero quedarmeTake me back ’cause I wanna stay
Guarda tus lágrimas para otroSave your tears for another
Guarda tus lágrimas para otro díaSave your tears for another day
Guarda tus lágrimas para otro díaSave your tears for another day
Así que te hice pensar que siempre me quedaríaSo, I made you think that I would always stay
Dije algunas cosas que nunca debí haber dichoI said some things that I should never say
Si, rompí tu corazón como alguien lo hizo con el míoYeah, I broke your heart like someone did to mine
Y ahora no me amarás por segunda vezAnd now you won’t love me for a second time
No sé por qué huyo, oh, nenaI don’t know why I run away, oh, girl
Dije que te haré llorar cuando me vayaSaid I’ll make you cry when I run away
Nena, acéptame de nuevo porque quiero quedarmeGirl, take me back ’cause I wanna stay
Guarda tus lágrimas para otroSave your tears for another
Me doy cuenta de que es demasiado tardeI realize that I’m much too late
Y te mereces a alguien mejorAnd you deserve someone better
Guarda tus lágrimas para otro día (uh, sí)Save your tears for another day (ooh, yeah)
Guarda tus lágrimas para otro día (sí)Save your tears for another day (yeah)
No sé por qué huyoI don’t know why I run away
Te haré llorar cuando me vayaI’ll make you cry when I run away
Guarda tus lágrimas para otro día, ooh, nena (ah)Save your tears for another day, ooh, girl (ah)
Dije que guardes tus lágrimas para otro día (ah)I said save your tears for another day (ah)

5 Tips for Singing Karaoke
Here are some other things to keep in mind about how to have a successful karaoke night:
Warm up your voice before singing so you can really hit those high notes! Follow along with this quick video on vocal warm ups for singers.
Look confident. Start with a smile and with your feet planted shoulder width apart. Make no apologies for being on that stage!
Pick a song you really know so you’re not always having to look at the lyrics on the screen. Don’t forget you have an audience that wants you to sing to them!
Use good vocal technique. Breathe low, and keep your sound placed in your mask rather than shouting into the microphone.
Practice at home! YouTube has many excellent channels, such as KaraFun, that can help you practice.
